How do I configure my computer to stay running at all times?Last Updated: June 20, 2019
Windows 7 and 10
Step 1) Click on the Windows button in the lower left-hand corner of the taskbar.
Step 2) Type power.
Step 3) Select the Power & Sleep settings option.
Step 4) Select the Advanced power settings.
Step 5) When the Power Plan window opens ensure that the option to put your computer to sleep states Never.
Step 6) Next Click on the Change Advanced Power Settings option.
The Power Options window will open.
Step 7) Click on the little + sign to open the Hard disk power options.
Step 8) Ensure that your setting for Turn off hard disk after states Never.
Step 9) Click OK.
Step 10) Click Save Changes on the Power Plan window.
Step 11) You can close the window; your computer is configured to stay on and running at all times.
On a MAC computer:
Step 1) Click on the "Apple" icon in the top left-hand corner and select "System Preferences"
Step 2) On the System Preferences screen, click on the "Energy Saver" light bulb icon.
Step 3) Move the Computer Sleep slider to "Never" and remove the "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" checkbox.
Step 4) Click the lock to prevent further changes and close the Energy Saver window.
